Lance Corporal James Ball

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Ripley, Derbyshire and lived at Outram Street, Ripley. Son of James Richard and Elizabeth Ball, of Ripley. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 31st August 1914 into the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment at Derby. He was posted 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France 2nd May 1915. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 5th July 1916. He died of wounds on 5th March 1917.
