Born and lived at Tibshelf, Derbyshire. Son of Francis and Eliza Ball, of 7 Hardwick Street, Tibshelf. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, 25th September 1915, during the German attack at Noreuil, France.
