Born in Selston, Nottinghamshire. and lived at 12 Lime Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Adopted son of Frederick and Hannah Cuckson. He worked as a hosiery hand. Enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1917, aged 22, in the attack on Cite Sans Theodore, Near Lens, France.
