Born and lived at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Son of Alfred and Mary Ann Ball, of 187, Bridge Street, Gainsborough. He was an iron foundry moulder apprentice prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He died of wounds received at Passchendaele Ridge, Belgium 10th November 1917, aged 25.
