Grandson of Joseph Bale, of 19, Ponsonby Terrace, South Street, Derby. He was a bus conductor prior to enlisting on 4th December 1914 at Derby. He went to France on 14th December 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd March 1916, in the action at Ypres/Comines Canal, Belgium.
