Born at Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire and lived at 21, Nethermoor Road, New Tupton, Derbyshire. Son of Samuel and Mary Ann Baldwin, of 61, Rothenale Road, Birdholme. He was a platelayer for the Midland Railway prior to enlisting at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 25, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
