Born and lived at Welton Lincolnshire. Son of Stephen and Emma Simpson Baldwin, of Ryland Cottage, Welton. He was a gardener prior to enlisting at Lincoln. He was killed in action, 18th May 1917, aged 20, whilst serving in Cuba Trench near Arras, France.
