Born in Saltwood, Hampshire. Son of Frederick and Julia Baldwin, of 41, Manvers Street, Netherfield, Nottinghamshire. Was a groom prior to enlistment at Nottingham 1st January 1909. He served in India from 7th October 1909 and then in France from 3rd November 1914. He was promoted to Corporal 7th October 1914 and Sergeant 6th February 1915. He was killed in action on 12th March 1915, aged 28, during a counterattack on the German positions at Neuve Chapelle, France.
