Private Walter Balchin

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Balchin, of 137, Bulwell Lane, Old Basford, Nottingham. He was a coal miner. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 25th September 1914, aged 24, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line near Troyon, France.
