Born 1st November 1893 at Rotherham, Yorkshire and lived Blyth, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Baker, of Blyth. He was a shop boy prior to enlisting at Retford, Nottinghamshire. He served in the Gallipoli campaign during 1915. He went to France in June 1916 and was killed in action, 26th September 1916, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
