Born in Leicester and lived in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Elizabeth Baker, of 49, Albert Street, Newark. He was a storekeeper prior to enlisting on 19th March 1912 at Newark. He died in Hospital at Luton, Bedfordshire on 28th September 1914, aged 22.
