Battalion: 2/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Kniveton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Son of Emily Baker, of Ivy Cottage, Kniveton. He was a farmworker at Bank Top Farm, Fenny Bentley, Derbyshire prior to enlisting at Ashbourne. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 26, in the attack on the German positions near St. Julian, Belgium.

Commemorated: Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.
