Private Walter Baines

Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of William and Ada Emma Baines, of 28, Edginton Street, Blue Bell Hill Road, Nottingham. He was a warehouseman prior to enlisting on 25th September 1917 at Derby aged 17. He went to France on 1st April 1918. He suffered trench fever and was treated at 20 Casualty Clearing Station Heilly, France 17th August 1918. He was transferred to 72 General Hospital Trouville, France and rejoined his battalion on 5th October 1918. On the 8th November, he sustained shell wounds to his left leg and was taken to No.12 general hospital Rouen, France 16th November 1918, where he died 26th November 1918, from these wounds.
