Born at Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire and lived at Dogdike, Lincolnshire. He was a general farm worker prior to enlisting on 14th February 1916 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire. He went to France on 4th July 1916 and died, 26th November 1916, from gunshot wounds and fracture of his skull at 41 Casualty Clearing Station, Wanquetin, France.
