Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Hartshorne, Derbyshire and lived at Woodville, Derbyshire. Son of Samuel and Sarah Bailey, of 13, Long Row, Woodville. He was a coal miner (horse driver) prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action on 12th March 1915 during the counterattack by the Germans at Neuve Chapelle, France.
