Private Samuel James Bailey

Army Number: 70327 (formerly 6024 Leicestershire Regiment)

Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Samuel James and Elizabeth Bailey of 11, St. Andrews Place, Northampton. He was a clicker in a shoe factory prior to enlisting at Northampton. He was killed in action on 9th October 1916, aged 22 in the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt during the Battle of the Somme.
