Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Derby. Son of Daniel and Mary Jane Bailey. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
