Born at Macclesfield, Cheshire and lived at 14, Grove Place Warley Lane, Derby. Husband of Mary Ellen Bailey, of 8 Carrington Place, Carrington, Derby. He was a brush maker prior to enlisting on 10th February 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 4th May 1917, during the attack on Malakoff and Cologne Farms, France.
