Born and lived at Fernilee, Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. Son of Harriet Bagshaw, of 5, Railway Cottages, Whaley Bridge. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 15th October 1914 at Buxton, Derbyshire. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and was killed in action, 21st September 1915, aged 17, whilst in the line at Outerdom, Belgium.
