Born and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Bacon, 126, Stockwell Gate, Mansfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He served at Gallipoli in 1915. He was killed in action on 26th September 1916 during the attack near Ovillers, France during the Battle of the Somme.
