Born at Youlgrave, Derbyshire. Son of William and Sarah Ann Bacon, of Calling Low, Youlgrave, Bakewell, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Bakewell and was killed in action on 17th October 1918, aged 25, during the attack on Regnicourt, France.
