Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born in Liverpool. Son of Frederick and Elizabeth Austin, of 75, Bagot Street, Wavertree, Liverpool. He was a clerk with the White Star Line shipping company prior to enlisting at Liverpool on 25th April 1917. He went to France on 30th March 1918 and transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 4th April 1918. He was killed in action, 27th May 1918, aged 19, whilst the battalion was in a retiring fight towards Montagne de Guyencourt, France.
