Born at Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. Son of Caroline Aust. Husband of Emma Aust. He was a railway platelayer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
