Private Thomas Attoe

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Briston, Melton Constable, Norfolk. Son of Joseph and Emily Attoe. He was a bricklayer’s labourer prior to enlisting at Cromer, Norfolk 1st May 1917. He went to France on 27th March 1918 and was transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 30th March 1918. He was killed in action, 28th August 1918, during the German counterattack at Oppy, France.

His brother Private Hubert Ernest Attoe, 1/5th Battalion Norfolk Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
