Sergeant Thomas Attenborough

Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Smalley, Derbyshire. Son of Isaac and Martha Ann Attenborough, of 36, Spencer Street, Smalley Common, West Hallam, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Derby on 7th June 1915. He went to France on 22nd April 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 26th July 1916. He was promoted to Sergeant on 24th May 1917 and was killed in action, 17th June 1917, aged 20., whilst serving in the line near Bully Grenay, France.
