Son of Herbert and Florence Atkinson of 4, Harrington Street, New Sawley, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Long Eaton, Derbyshire 2nd November 1914, went to France 25th June 1915 and was killed in action, 16th August 1915, whilst serving in the line at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
