Private Osborn Atkinson

Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Misson, Nottinghamshire and lived at Bawtry, Yorkshire. Son of John and Annie Atkinson, of “The Green”, Mission He was a sandpit labourer prior to enlisting at Woolwich. He went to France on 28th August 1916 and was transferred to the 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 11th January 1917 and posted to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 2nd February 1917. He was killed in action, 22nd June 1917, by German shellfire whilst serving in the trenches near the Yser canal bank, Belgium.
