Born at Nottingham. Son of Charles Atkin, of 107, North Gate, New Basford, Nottingham. Husband of Clara Ellen Atkin. He was a hosiery factory hand prior to enlisting at Nottingham on 13th May 1915. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 10th October 1916, during the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt, near Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
