Born at Waterton, near Manchester. Son of Tom and Hannah Ashworth, of 4 Waterton Lane, Mossley. He enlisted at Ashton under Lyne 30th May 1916, went to France 13th March 1917 and was killed in action, 20th April 1918, aged 21, whilst serving in the trenches at Mesnil, France.
