Born at Netherfield, Nottingham. Son of William Hilton and Clara Ashworth, of 50 Manor Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. Lived at the Mill House, Victoria Road, Netherfield. He was a printer. Killed in action, 2nd October 1916, aged 23, whilst attached to the 8th Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.
Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
