He was born at lived at New Mills, Derbyshire. Husband of Sarah Alice Ashworth, of 47, Albion Road, Newtown, New Mills. He enlisted at Buxton and was killed in action, 31st October 1916, aged 23, whilst the battalion was at “F’ Camp near Montauban, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
