Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born in Rhode, Northamptonshire. Son of Edward and Esther Ashpool, of “Lynwood,” High Street, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire. He lived at 3 Great Northern Cottages, Pleasley, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a wool spinner at Pleasley Vale Mills prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He was killed in action, 20th September 1917, aged 21, during the attack on Bulgar Wood, Belgium.
