Born in Bristol. Son of Alfred Ashpole, of 19, Corbett Street, Bristol. He enlisted at Bristol on 28th January 1916 into the 5th Battalion Norfolk Regiment and went to France on 13th January 1917. He was posted to the 9th Battalion Norfolk Regiment on 10th January 1918. He was transferred to the 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 17th January 1918 and then to the 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 29th January 1918. He was killed in action,15th March 1918, whilst serving in the line in the Cambrin sector.
