Son of Mary Ann Asher of 15, Snow Hill, Colwick Street, Nottingham. He enlisted on 10th December 1915 and was posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 15th December 1915. He went to France on 1st June 1916 and was posted to the 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on the same day. He was killed in action, 9th September 1916, when a British shell landed in the front line near Bretencourt, France.
