Sergeant Harold Arnold

Battalion: 2/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Stoke-on-Trent. Son of Mrs Ann Bagley, of 79, Lansdowne Road., Swadlincote, Burton-on-Trent. He lived at Fleet House, Belper, Derbyshire and was a school teacher prior to enlisting on 6th November 1915. He was appointed Lance Corporal 26th September 1916 and went to France 26th February 1917, being promoted Corporal on the same day. He was promoted to Sergeant on 9th April 1917 and was killed in action, 26th April 1917, aged 22, whilst serving in the trenches near Hervilly, France.
Buried: Jeancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Plot 2, Row C, Grave 7.
