Born 14th June 1898 at Leytonstone, Essex. Son of Frederick and Louisa Arnold, of 10 Acacia Road, Leytonstone, Essex. He was a baker. He enlisted at East Ham, Essex on 23rd January 1915 and went to France on 17th November 1915 but was sent back to England on 31st October 1916 because his parents revealed he was underage. He was transferred to the Hertfordshire Regiment on 30th November 1916 and stayed in England He returned to France on 7th July 1917 and was posted to the 2/7th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 27th July 1917. He received gunshot wounds to his head on 21st March 1918 and was admitted to hospital at Abbeville, France. he then went to the 4th Convalescent Depot at Trouville, France. He joined the 2nd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 9th August 1918 and died of wounds, 19th September 1918, No. 48 Casualty Clearing Station at Brie, France.
