Born in Norwich, Norfolk. Husband of Annie Elsie Armitage, of 33, Birch Lane, Beech Lanes, Warley, Birmingham. Lived at 1 Bond Gate, Castle Donington, Leicestershire. He was a groom prior to enlisting at Derby on 10th July 1905. He went to France on 11th November 1914 and suffered gunshot wounds to his head on 27th February 1915. He was treated at No. 19 Field Ambulance, Armentieres, France, and died of wounds on 4th March 1915, aged 30.
