Private Walter Annable

Army Number: 13917 (formerly 30567, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry)

Battalion: 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Arnold, Nottinghamshire. Son of Samuel and Hannah Annable, of Holts Cottages, Red Hill Road, Arnold, Nottinghamshire. Worked as a servant for Colonel Seeley at the “The Lodge”, Arnold, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted at Nottingham, went to France on 27th January 1915 then transferred to the Sherwood Foresters in February. He was killed in action, 7th June 1917, aged 23, whilst serving at Battalion H.Q in the trenches, South of Ypres, Belgium.
