Corporal Steven Annable

Battalion : 1/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of Robert and Mary Annable of Chesterfield Road, Belper, Derbyshire. Husband of Susannah Jones (formerly Annable), of Guide Post, Nether Heage, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Belper on 14th July 1908 and was a professional soldier until 1911 and then joined the Reserve, training annually in 1912 and 1913. He was a coal miner for the Denby Coal and Iron Company prior to re-engaging 7th April 1914 into the 1/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was appointed Lance Corporal 5th August 1914 and was promoted Corporal 10th February 1915. He went to France on 1st March 1915 and died of wounds on 8th June 1915, aged 27.
