Born at New Whittington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Mary Ann Andrews, of 142, South Street, New Whittington. He was a pipe moulder/plate layer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield on 25th January 1915. He went to France on 27th October 1915 and died, 23rd August 1916, aged 30, of gunshot wounds to his chest at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France.
