Son of Arthur and Mary Andrews, of 175, Abbey Street, Derby. He was a porter prior to enlisting at Derby on 28th April 1915. He was posted to the 16th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 12th May 1915 and went to France on 6th March 1916. He was attached to the 174th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers 13th September 1916. Rejoined the 16th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 30th August 1917. He was killed in action, 19th October 1917, aged 32, whilst serving in the trenches at “Tower Hamlets” near Gheluvelt, Belgium.
