Born in Leeds, Yorkshire. Husband of Ada Alton, of 2, Alma Street, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Chesterfield on 22nd February 1915, went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, on 27th April 1917, during the attack on Quarries and Cologne Farm, near Hancourt, France.
