Born at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Alsop, of 2, Broadgate, Beeston, Nottingham. He was a milkman prior to enlisting at Beeston on 10th December 1915. He went to France on 31st May 1916 and received gunshot wounds to his left leg on 7th July 1916. He was sent for the 51st Field Ambulance to the 8th Stationary Hospital at Wimereux, France 8th July 1916 and was transported to England on the Hospital Ship Lateno 9th July 1916. He returned to France on 31st December 1916 and was killed in action, 25th August 1917, during the German attack on the Knoll, Gillemont Farm, Lempire, France.
