Born and lived at Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. Son of James and Annie Allton, of 32, The Breach, Eastwood. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, on 26th April 1918. He went to France on 17th August 1918 and was killed in action, 18th September 1918, during the attack on German trenches near Lechelle, France.
