Battalion: 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Newhall, Derbyshire. Son of Sarah Ann Heape, of 34, Happiness Lane, Stanton, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. He was a collier and served in the 5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment from 1908 until 1912. Re-engaged 1st September 1914 into the 1st Battalion. He went to France on 9th February 1915 and was killed in action, 12th March 1915, during the German counter-attack at Neuve Chapelle, France.
