Born at Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Edmund Allin, of 31, Cookson Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham on 14th August 1914. He went to France on 9th June 1917 and was killed in action on 30th July 1917 whilst serving in the trenches near Philosophe, France.
