Born at Nottingham. Son of George and Fanny Allen, of Saxilby, Lincoln; husband of Bertha Allen. He lived at 8, Havercroft Terrace, Killamarsh, Derbyshire. He was a miner prior to enlisting at Sheffield on 1st June 1915. He went to Gallipoli on 14th November 1915 and then to France on 28th June 1916. He died of wounds on 23rd September 1916 at No. 34 Field Ambulance.
