Born at Leicester. Son of George and Mary E. Allen, of 48, Sylvain Street, Leicester. He was a railway clerk prior to enlisting at Leicester on 19th July 1916. He was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 12th March 1917. He went to France on 12th December 1917 and was killed in action on 23rd March 1918 during the German offensive near the Maricourt Road, near Maricourt, France,
