Born at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. Son of William and Selina Allen, of Thanet Street, Clay Cross. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Clay Cross on 23rd August 1914. He went to France on 24th August 1916 He suffered gunshot wounds to his left leg on 1st October 1916 and died of wounds at the 2nd Field Ambulance on 3rd October 1916.
