Son of James and Sarah Allen, of 8 Hovenden Street, Hyson, Nottingham; husband of Ann Allen, of 26, Leicester Street, St. Ann’s Well Road, Nottingham. He enlisted at Nottingham on 21st September 1914, went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action on 8th April 1915, aged 37 whilst serving in the trenches at Lindenhoek, Belgium.
